Obituary of Mary Madeline (Tracey) Steele
It is with complete devastation, sorrow and heartache that we announce the passing of our loving mother on Monday, October 22, 2018 after a courageous battle, she was 79 years old. Mary is survived by her loving children, Donna, Brenda (Wayne), Diane (Keith) John (Susan) Angie (Corrine) Steven and Alfred (Patty). She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Loretta, Esther, Blanche and her cat, Molly. Mary was predeceased by her parents, Blanche (Boutilier) and John Tracey; sisters, Florence and Diane and her special friend, Mary Bell. She was also predeceased by her true love, her husband and our dad, Angus Steele. A life-long resident of Glace Bay, a place she was proud to call home. Mary enjoyed hobbies such as bingo and cards and was so easy to please. Family was everything to her. She will always be remembered as a sweet, kind, gentle, loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. A one of a kind special angel on earth with a heart of gold and a beautiful smile that lit up a room. To know her was to love her. Visitation will take place Thursday, October 25th at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, 10 a.m., October 26th St. Anne’s Church with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. A luncheon will follow in the church foyer.
